A portable air conditioner can be rated for 9,000 or 12,000 BTU on paper and still underperform in your room — and the reason is almost never the unit itself. It's the gap left around the exhaust hose where it exits the window. Every bit of cooled air that escapes through that gap, and every bit of hot outside air that leaks back in, is capacity your AC never gets credit for.
Why the seal matters more than people think
Manufacturers test BTU ratings under sealed conditions. A loosely stuffed towel or a slit-open cardboard panel around the hose can cost you a meaningful share of real-world cooling performance — which is often the actual reason a correctly sized unit still feels like it's struggling.
How the Universal Portable AC Window Seal Kit works
This is a reusable, breathable fabric panel that fits into most standard window or sliding door openings using hook-and-loop mounting tape — no drilling, no permanent changes. Instead of fixed grommets, it uses a single continuous zipper track down the panel. Open the zipper partway at any point to create one adjustable circular opening sized exactly to your hose.
For a dual-hose unit, the same zipper track opens at two points, stacked vertically, to create two adjustable openings — one for intake, one for exhaust. It comes in four sizes (3M, 4M, 5M, 6M) to fit different window and door widths. Note: it doesn't include a hose connector or adapter — that part comes with your AC unit.
Works with any of Kewling's portable ACs
- 9,000 BTU Single-Hose Smart Portable Air Conditioner — single opening
- 12,000 BTU Dual-Hose Wi-Fi Portable Air Conditioner — two stacked openings
- Compact Compressor Mini Air Conditioner — single opening, ideal for tents, vans, and small rooms
Installation in short
- Measure your window or door opening and pick the closest size (3M–6M).
- Attach the panel around the frame using the included hook-and-loop tape.
- Open the zipper to the diameter of your hose and route it through.
- Close the window or door against the panel as far as it will go.
Because it's reusable and non-permanent, it comes down cleanly at the end of the season — useful for renters or anyone who doesn't want a fixed installation.

FAQ
Will this work on a sliding glass door?
Yes — it's designed to fit standard sliding glass doors and casement windows as well as double-hung windows.
Does it come with a hose adapter?
No. The kit seals the opening around your hose; the hose and any connector fittings come with the AC unit itself.
Can I reuse it next season?
Yes. It's a reusable fabric panel with hook-and-loop mounting, not a single-use install — take it down and refit it whenever you need it.
Which size do I need?
Measure the width of your window or door opening and choose the closest match from 3M, 4M, 5M, or 6M — sizing slightly larger is safer than slightly smaller.
